about

María Mónica Gutiérrez known in her solo project as MONTAÑERA (Mountainess) has established herself as one of the most intense and unique voices in Colombia.

She has traveled a ten-years trajectory with her bands Suricato (New Colombian Music) and Ságan (Cosmo-natural Pop) that has taken her to Europe, the United States and Latin America, playing on stages as important as the Smithsonian Museum and Kennedy Center in Washington DC, a live act at KEXP in Seattle, SXSW in Austin, MAMA Festival in Paris among others.

Her albums “Encarnación” (2017) and “Salvadora” (2020) have both received Honour Mention by the Ministry of Culture of Colombia. “Salvadora”, produced by the renowned DJ and producer PHO, brings new sounds to her voice by mixing electronic with Colombian music and indie pop influences. Additionally, the song“Cruz” is a collaboration with the acclaimed rapper N. Hardem.

lyrics

Blanca como nieve,
Voces en mi vientre,
Todo está que llueve,
Mojándome, todo mi ser.

Viene de mi mente,
Paso de serpiente,
Cruzo como un puente,
Rompiéndome, cómo el cristal

Elévame, elévame,
Lejos de aquí..

Como yo quiero,
Me muero lento,
Yo quiero escaparme, de todo lo que temo,
Pero no es el momento, Yo sigo buscando la manera de seguir.

Rama de camelia,
Flores en la arena,
Dame la primera,
Visión de mi,
Cuando nací.
